Mercedes-Benz Launching Car Subscription Service in June
Following the lead of several other automakers, Mercedes-Benz has announced plans to launch a vehicle subscription service.
Dubbed Mercedes-Benz Collection, the service will let you "switch in and out of vehicles"—including SUV, sedan, coupe, cabriolet, roadster, and wagon models—for a monthly subscription fee, the company said Thursday. Then, if yous're planning a summer road trip with friends, you might request an SUV. And then, if you manage to score a hot appointment, you lot might swap the SUV for a roadster.
Mercedes-Benz plans to start piloting the new service in Nashville and Philadelphia this June. There's no word yet as to how much information technology volition cost, but the company said it volition offer "multiple subscription tiers." Similar services from Porsche and BMW start at $2,000 a month.
"The Mercedes-Benz Collection experience is equal parts app- and concierge-driven," the company explained. "Once subscribed, customers initiate vehicle exchanges, concierge advice, and other actions via the app. Concierge staff then ensure that the delivery is consistent with the details and preferences in the customer's profile."

Meanwhile, Porsche has been piloting its vehicle subscription service, Porsche Passport, in Atlanta since the fall. BMW expects to launch its Access by BMW service in Nashville this May. Cadillac'south version, called Book by Cadillac, costs $i,800 a calendar month and is available in New York, Dallas, and Los Angeles. If those options are also pricey, Ford is has a cheaper alternative called Canvas, which offers packages as low as $375 a calendar month.
